Pack the essentials
Bring an apple, a saddle, and a bridle. The Chernarus fall update lists horse equipment at the hunting traders.
Let the horse come to you
Approach to around 20 meters, hold the apple, and use the “Offer bait” action. Wait for the horse to approach.
Claim and equip
Put the apple away. Attach a saddle directly from your hands to claim an unowned horse, then fit a bridle.
Mount up
Empty your hands before mounting. The published update allows one owned horse per player and a “Call horse” action within 200 meters.
